What a discovery! This
place is a must visit for every pizza lover. I
went to Jamie’s Pizzeria by Jamie Oliver, expecting good hearty pizzas, unlike
the mass churned out at popular fast foods. And I was not disappointed; the
food definitely is top notch in flavor and far from the regular. The gigantic
New York style slices of pizzas are oh so inviting! Some pizza’s on the menu
like the Basil Pollo and White Rocket are truly unique flavors that were not
available to us before.
The place is beautifully decorated, happy
interiors and nice music. Their menu is kind of small so we were a little
skeptical. But nonetheless, we had an amazing time. We
ordered a spicy meatball pizza and a salt and sweet fresh lime. The pizza took
not more than 15 minutes to reach the table. And it was absolutely delicious.
I know I am repeating myself, but I must say
the menu is really quiet limited for there are only about a dozen pizzas
offered including non-vegetarian ones. I also ordered Chicken
Diviola, Red Rocket, Fungi and Chilli freak; along with a side of garlic bread
and chicken wings. Lychee
Spritz and Homemade Ginger Beer, the thirst quenchers, were original and
innovative. Salads were an assortment of natural and raw ingredients. The
Caprese Salad and Marinated Feta & Watermelon Salad were truly a sight for
sore eyes and packed with health.
Hand-stretched
Garlic Bread, partnered with rosemary and an olive dip, was a feast, on the
other hand, Mushroom Fritti, oyster mushrooms in herby breadcrumbs was little
frizzled for my palate. But if you are the one who can’t eat pizza without
tomato ketchup then it is not a place for you. Don’t be shocked guys but trust
me you wouldn’t get ketchup here. Give your taste buds an opportunity to be
delighted with other flavours. Ketchup just kills it all anyway. I really
savored Chilli Freak, a rare fusion of spiciness and peppers; Red Rocket was
sharp and tangy. Jamie's Super Greens was loaded with fresh greens and calm
combination, Funghi is a treat for the mushroom lovers. Excellent salads!
Pizzas live up to the Jamie fame! Must try the hand stretched garlic bread. So
well made, Genero Contaldo style. Thrilled to bits!
To summarize: Jamie's is an elite brand for pizza fans. The
blend of ingredients might not be familiar to the Indian palate but surely they
are exclusive and offering them at very justifiable prices. The ambience is relaxed and the
customer service is efficient. The thing that a lot of people don’t understand
is that Jamie's pizzas aren’t about the toppings, they are about the sauces.
The Chicken Peporanatta uses a mild one, which goes well the chicken. The Spicy
Meatball uses an extremely hot one and goes brilliantly with the meatball
chunks. The crusts are superb and enhance the experience. The ginger beer is
homemade and goes very well with the pizzas. Same can be said about the fresh
lime soda.
The pizzas were all baked to perfection and with
just the perfect amount of sauce and cheese on them. They were all quite light
and I would say one could easily enjoy a pizza and beer and still go have an
Indian meal! The chefs here are not over the top when it comes to putting
toppings because the idea is to create a fine balance rather than overwhelm.
The garlic bread is just the same dough out of which they make the pizza base
slathered with garlic butter and served with olive and Sun dried tomato dip.
Those who are lovers of cheesy dip they wouldn’t like this place because they
don’t serve cheesy dip; again as they are trying to create a fine palette. Service was quick. We
also ordered the day's special Chicken Lasagne and it was just the perfect
combination of ingredients. The best part about the lasagne was that the
flavour of tomato did not overpower the overall taste of the dish.
Overall, the place is
reasonably priced, the food is amazing and the service impeccable. The deserts; how can I forget them! The
Seasonal Almond Tart and Epic Chocolate Brownie were phenomenal. The tart was
seasoned with Mascarpone Cheese, an orgasmic experience and brownie was gooey
and delectable. I
would love to visit again soon. Cheers team Jamie's. :)
