INDIGO Delhi – Diversity
at its best
As you walk into the One Golden Mile, an expansive,
beautiful and elegant space welcomes you; Indigo Delhi- one of India’s premier restaurants
designed to embrace the three basic principles: excellent food, warm
hospitality and superior service. It’s that time of the year when Delhi starts
getting enveloped in chilly winters and nothing is more comforting that a plate
of hearty and wholesome food.
Indigo is all set to satisfy your cravings and comfort
you with some soul food as it unveils a new menu to celebrate the winter.
Conceptualized and crafted by resident culinary genius Chef Nitin Kulkarni has
aimed at bringing some simple flavors and combinations to you table. With some
spectacular dishes and fine-exquisite ingredients, this menu is bound to
satiate you.
We started our culinary experience at Indigo with
Chocotini- Martini with a twist of chocolate and a Mimosa. They have a whole
new range of drinks that complement the meals. Amouse bouche was a crunchy
almond biscuit served with goat cheese and raspberry coulis. As this restaurant
is a host to mostly women clientele during lunch hours, they have included a
wide range of fresh salads to cater to them. We started with a refreshing curly
cress, arugula and figs salad with salty crumbled feta, walnuts and sherry
mustard dressing- perfect balance of ingredients, truly delectable. Also we
binged on an extremely flavorful ceaser salad which vas very fulfilling and
kind of addictive.
Our
taste buds were already hijacked but there was more to come. For our second
course we had porchini and goat cheese ravioli with some truffle cream and
chestnut relish, balsamic grilled Portobello with a mediterranean couscous and
fresh arugula, pan roasted red snapper served with a champagne beurre blanc and
cucumber-celery slaw. A highlight or a feature of this menu is the use of
exotic and exquisite ingredients like grilled palm hearts, Parsnips, Jerusalem Artichokes, Fresh Kale,
Swiss Chard etc. The menu is very
diverse and each dish perfectly preserves the character of the ingredients
used.
For someone like me for whom the menu starts with
the desserts, what came next will simply blow your mind- a Belgian chocolate
and hazelnut dome with a milk caramel ice cream, cherry compote and toasted hazelnuts;
when you glide you spoon through this dark and intense chocolate dome a
luscious hazelnut puree balances the bitterness of chocolate. This dessert was
so drool worthy that I will go back to Indigo just for this. We also tried a
salted caramel brulee and a sugar free lemon cheese cake served with a blood
orange sorbet and raspberry coulis.
The menu for lunch and dinner vary a little but some
signature dishes remain constant. The heart and soul of
Indigo has always been its food. This new menu has been crafted in a way that
gives every fabulous ingredient used, it’s day in the sun. If you give Indigo a
miss this season, then trust me you will deprive yourself from tasting some
truly artistic and delectable dishes.
