SALADS AND SANGRIA FESTIVAL
AT BARCELOS
8th August onwards......
This is happening for the 1st time in India,
that an eatery has launched a Sangria
Bar. This Salad and Sangria festival at Barcelos, Khan Market, focuses on 21 types of Sangria; yes you read it correct its 21 Types and a good
number of Salads.
For the 1st time ever, in the culinary history of India has anyone dared to do so. Barcelos has always been in news for their
ever new and daring innovations in the food market like the Black and Red
burgers.
Sangria is a typical
beverage from Spain and Portugal. It normally consists of wine, chopped fruit,
a sweetener, and a small amount of added brandy or any other liquor as is
happening nowadays. Chopped fruit can include orange, lemon, lime, apple,
peach, melon, berries, pineapple, grape, kiwifruit and mango. A sweetener such
as honey, sugar, syrup, or orange juice is added. Instead of brandy, other
liquids such as Seltzer, Sprite or 7 Up may be added. Sangria is steeped while
chilled for as little as minutes or up to a few days.
You can get both variants of Sangria (red and white) at
Barcelos. They are also doing some with the Rose’ wine too. I tried 6-7 of
them, and was very much impressed by the way the have done them. Right amount
of sweetness and right amount of fruit with the vibrant flavors of wine and
other ingredients. Amongst others, my favorites were Rosemary and Pomegranate,
cucumber, and the peachy one.

To accompany a glass of cold sangria, they have
introduced a good number of salads as well. I bet you, Salads go very well
along with Sangria or wine per se. I tried the Caprese , which was really very
well made with a burst of fresh flavors of pesto and an innovative sweet onion
dressing. The Fattoush is also very good and refreshing. Both veg as well non
veg salad variants are available.
So get up and get going for you own share of good life.
A glass or more of Sangria with healthy and hearty Salads will surely turn you
bright.
